My New Mobile

Hey, I'm showing off my new mobile phone! I know it is not pretty, beautiful and definitely not as sophisticated as you think. It has no mp3 player and the camera megapixel is only 0.3 mp. Nevertheless, it is far way better than my bloody old, sentimental Nokia 3310 which is not worth to sell nowadays. So, I just keep it. Who knows the value might goes up someday?

Oh by the way, I bought that phone via eBay. Do you know how much it costed me? £23. Unbelieveable isn't it? The phone is still new though. Even the brand new in the market costs approximately £77, so I guess it saves me quite a lot.

The fact to the matter is, I don't really give a damn about it. If my 3310 had not yet broken, I might still use it. Anyway, what I like the most about the phone is the size. It's small and I prefer small phone. I'll never choose thick and big phone 'coz to me, it's too bulky to carry. Every people has their own taste and I'm not critising those who own them. Who knows I might carry PDA someday?

By the way, my phone is pretty cool and I'm loving it

Love,

Faris Fakri

Dubai

Today, I want to share a few photos that I took when I was in Dubai couple of weeks ago. I departed from KLIA on 24th May 2007 and transit at the Abu Dhabi airport. The original plan was to go to Bahrain instead of Dubai. Unfortunately, there's something happened regarding my ticket from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain. If I'm not mistaken, the airport said the ticket has not yet been issued, so I had to overnight in Abu Dhabi while waiting for the next flight. The transit was supposed to be merely 4 hours.

Well, considering I have wasted lots of time there so I decided to change my journey. I cancelled my trip to Bahrain and went to Dubai. If you take a bus, it just takes 2 and a half hours to Dubai from Abu Dhabi anyway, so that sounds interesting to me considering lots of people been talking about the fabulous Dubai, and I decided to see it by myself.

So, here are a few pictures to be shared...

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

A little description...

Picture no. 1
The hotel swimming pool which is located on top of the roof and too bad, I totally forgot to jump into the pool! But if I wanted to, I wouldn't dare to jump during day time because of the weather... man it's so damn hot! It's burning my skin seriously!

Picture no. 2
I took the view from the roof top. What a massive construction in Dubai. You've got to see it! The place is kind of hazzy and dusty because of it. If you go there, you can see there are constructions everywhere. I wonder if I go back 5 years later, how would Dubai looks like.

Picture no. 3
Just another tourist place. I love the architecture and design. The islamic look.

Picture no. 4
I call this booth Sisha Shop. Although they aren't just selling sisha bottles or whatever you call it, they have plenty of designs & sizes. I was thinking to buy one actually but em... I didn't buy it. Don't ask me why.

Picture no. 5
Found this shop while walking around. They sell photographs. When I saw all the photographs, I had a thought in mind... if I could sell any of my photos to them, I could make some money. Well, do they want my photos? I don't know...

Picture no. 6
Dubai Drydocks. That's what it says. A place where they fix or service cargo, ships. I didn't go in. Just took it from outside. Was in the car actually.

Picture no. 7
Tallest building in the world in the making.

Picture no. 8
Burj Al-Arab. First time I saw it, it reminds me of Celcom building in Kuala Lumpur. They look kind of alike to me. Burj in translation is a tower. You wouldn't want to rent a hotel room there. They say, the cheapest room in the hotel is $18,000.00 USD per night and it can go up to $43,000.00 USD. Well... anyone?

Picture no. 9
United Arab Emirates flag.

Picture no. 10
I know guys like it don't you? Tourists enjoy sunbathing at Dubai beach. I couldn't think of any reason why in the world these people are willing to lay down under the 45 degrees weather. Even I couldn't stand out there for 15 minutes when I was there to take pictures of Burj Al-Arab.

I hope you guys enjoy reading and looking through my journey pictures to Dubai. If I have more time, I would post more photos and stories insya'allah. Till then...

Regards,

Faris Fakri

Finally!!! I managed to upload those photos! It took me quite some time to upload considering there are 33 photos altogether. First of all, I wanted to thank Adhadi for the invitation to the outdoor photoshoot recently, and also for lending me your camera. Without it, perhaps I'm just a "pemegang reflector" sahaja! Hahaha. I had so much fun that day. Again, I learned so many new things in photographing model.

Trust me, you do not need bags of lenses to get great pictures. All you need is creativity. It's how you use your thinking skill. You've got to think before you shoot. I can say 97% of my images above, were captured using 50mm f1.8. That's the only lense I used that day plus kit lense which needs wide angle shots. Well, I would be glad if I have a few more but what I'm pointing out is that, you can still make good photos though you are lack of lenses. As long as you never give up.

For your information, that was the first time I learned how to shoot with reflectors and how to hold the reflector in the right way! Hahahaha. It sounds a little bit funny but yeah, if I did not attend the photoshoot that day, probably I would not know till this moment. So, I felt really great to get to learn new stuff and it was a good exposure and experience for me to make better photos.

Just an additional info, there were 7 photographers attended that day which I did not really remember their names. They are Adhadi, Zuhrie, Freakdiver, Zcool, Myself and 2 more guys... (sorry tak ingat nama korang). Maklum lah baru first time jumper hehe. Except for Zuhrie, first time jumper dia maser photoshoot dengan Foto Warung kat Taman Warisan hari tu. Also I wanted to say thanks so much guys for the co-operation. To the lovely model, Farah... thanks for not giving up with us hehe (maklumlah kena dera sampai kena baring atas rumput). Kalau balik rasa gatai², mintak maap lah banyak² sebab cek pon lepas 2 hari baru ilang rasa gatai! Hahaha.

I'm really looking forward for the next outdoor portraiture session. And I hope you people enjoy your stay and have fun viewing the photos. Comments & critiques are appreciated.

Okay, now I really really miss my 50mm f1.8 lense. As you can see, 2 of those photos above (pic no. 1 & 3) were taken using 50mm. I love its depth of field. It really gives impact to the photos.

By the way, for picture number 2, it was my first time experimenting low light photography. I did not use tripod. It was handheld. Seriously, it's fun experimenting something you rarely do.

Zahra & Jue

Bonjour people! It's been quite some time I did not post any photos on the net. Been very busy recently. Don't even have time to check myspace & friendster! Huhu. However, I try my best not to leave this page with old entries for too long. Furthermore, lots of people been asking for updates, so here I am.

As you can see, above there are a few photographs I managed to capture during photoshoot with Warungists (also known as Fotowarung members). It was weeks ago by the way. The photoshoot was held at Taman Warisan Putrajaya. Conducted by Bazuki & Syeff. There were like 30 warungists altogether. I had so much fun 'coz I got to learn so many new things. I am able to widen up my skills with these people. It was great to share ideas & creativity.

Learning is never ending stories and I am looking forward to go out & shoot with these people again. I do believe we all can improve as long as we never stop clicking the shutter.

Enjoy your stay and happy viewing.

Editing Is So Important Nowadays?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

aaaaa

aaaaa

aaaaa

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I'm currently polishing up my skills of editing. I know I am very poor in editing. Well, of course I know the use of curves, levels, contrast, hue/saturation bla bla bla. What amazes me is, these people (photoshop expertise) really crazy monkey donkey know how to manipulate photos. Damn, I'm just so jealous.

I still remember someone once said to me and I quote, "In digital world nowadays, you just need to have skills in photoshop in order for you to make brilliant images." Well, yeah I do agree with him but personally I also think that we need to work on photography-basis still to become a better photographer.

I know lots of things can be done in photoshop. Perhaps, I prefer the old-fashioned way. Not saying I'm gonna throw my photoshop CD away! Just that I love to create images originally from camera and do minor editing in photoshop. Unless if I have something to do with graphic design which requires me to do heavy editing, that would be an excuse.

Just for your info, picture no. 1 & 3 are edited with a little noise added, playing with channel mixer, contrast a bit and hue/saturation (the hue slide was moved to the left or negative to desaturate the images).

Hope you guys enjoy viewing my photos.

Cheers,

The Poyos

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

These people are my friends. Picture was taken at Taman Kraftangan, Kota Bharu, Kelantan. We just had our lunch at a restaurant just behind us. The restaurant is famous among kelantanese and also people who come to Kelantan and have desire to try "masakan kampung" where there are ulam-ulaman, budu and umm... etc etc.

So, to those who have not tried or been missing budu, do not miss this opportunity to go and try it yourself! Rasa sekali mesti nak lagi! Haha.

I'm still waiting for my new camera. I don't know whether should or shouldn't I post the camera from my kampung. I'm quite worried if they don't take a good care of it. Regularly, they just main campak² jer. Kang silap haribulan dengan camera aku sekali dorang campak...!!! As a matter of fact, I bought the camera kat my hometown coz I was in town during Gong Xi Fa Cai on the other day. So, nak di jadikan cerita, I ter left my camera kat rumah maser nak bertolak balik ke KL. Demit.

I was thinking it is better if someone in the family or relatives or even friend who is coming here and I could ask their help to bring along the camera. That would be much much safer rite? Hmm... takkan aku nak call sumer orang tanya saper yang nak datang KL kot...???

By the way, those are compilation from my recent works. Erm, actually not too recent. Those pictures above were taken in year 2006. I always enjoy and love taking human photos. I guess I really have passion in it. If I am given an opportunity, I would choose to be a portrait photographer.

Hopefully you people enjoy looking at my not-that-superb works. And thanks a lot for spending time here. I will be posting a lot more photos in the future insya'Allah.

Comments and critiques are appreciated. Thanks.
